Everything you need to know before your Ghana trip — visas, health, transfers, and practical details. We handle the logistics so you can focus on the adventure.
Check your passport expiration date and do not forget to apply for the visa, if required. Applicants can apply online — just check the webpage of the Ghanaian embassy in your country and watch the video tutorial. Our digital address for VISA application is: CK-0090-9318.
We are ready to help you with the invitation letter or answering your questions regarding the VISA process. Just let us know at david@lemonbeachresort.com.
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry into Ghana. You must carry your yellow vaccination card with you on arrival.
We recommend Malarone as prevention. If you do not want to use Malarone or you forget it, the local anti-malaria medication COARTEM is available at every pharmacy for 5 EUR. Do not forget to take mosquito repellent with you.
Fly into Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra or Takoradi Airport (TKD). Airport pickup is included in all tour packages. For room-only bookings we arrange a reliable driver at competitive rates and you pay the driver directly on arrival. The drive from Accra takes about 3 hours; from Takoradi about 1.5 hours. Ghana is currently building new highways, so once they're finished the travel time will be roughly halved.

The local currency is the Ghana Cedi (GHS). We accept card payments (Visa/Mastercard, processed in GHS), mobile money (MTN MoMo, Vodafone Cash), and cash. ATMs are available in Elmina and Cape Coast, and we can help you exchange USD or EUR. A note: smaller banknotes (5, 10, 20) tend to get worse exchange rates.
Free WiFi is available throughout the resort at 25+ Mbps via Starlink. For mobile data, the easiest option is an eSIM through the Airalo app — use referral code DAVID3515 and you'll get $3 in credit.
Lemon Beach Restaurant accommodates vegetarian, gluten-free, and other dietary needs. Just let us know your requirements when booking or ordering and we'll make sure every meal is taken care of — both at the resort and during tours across Ghana.
Children are more than welcome. Our Family Design African Villa (95 m²) sleeps four and is ideal for families. Many activities — beach volleyball, archery, VR at Lemon Arcades, and the pool — are great for kids, and we can put together child-friendly tour itineraries on request.
SPF 50+ sunscreen (hard to find locally), DEET insect repellent, a UK type-G power adapter, comfortable walking shoes, swimwear, and light, breathable clothing for the tropical climate.
Ghana is consistently ranked among the top 3 safest countries in West Africa and is one of the most stable democracies on the continent. Elmina is a peaceful, welcoming town where visitors walk freely.
You can book any room directly through our website for the best rates. All rooms include daily breakfast at Lemon Beach Restaurant, and activities can be added individually at reception.
Multi-day guided journeys across Ghana are what set us apart — from the castles of the coast to Mole National Park in the north. Tours range from a 3-day coastal loop to a 12-day full-country discovery, and every trip can be customised to your interests.
Let us plan your perfect Ghana experience from start to finish.
